Absolutely. We are fully licensed and insured. Our licensing numbers are: DOT # 1990914, HG # 063862, MC # 865709. Your belongings are protected throughout the entire moving process.
Yes! We offer a full range of professional-grade moving supplies including boxes of all sizes, packing tape, bubble wrap, packing paper, and specialty containers for dishes, wardrobes, and artwork.
Our labor-only service pairs you with a professional, experienced moving crew that handles all the heavy lifting — loading, unloading, or both. It's a premium service used for assisted living transitions, POD and container loading, furniture rearranging, storage unit help, delivery placement, and rental truck loading. Every crew member is trained to the same high standards as our full-service movers.
We recommend booking at least 2-4 weeks in advance, especially during peak moving season (May-September). However, we understand that moves can be last-minute, so contact us and we'll do our best to accommodate your schedule.
Have items boxed and ready, ensure clear pathways, reserve parking for the moving truck if needed, and be available to answer questions. We'll handle the heavy lifting while you supervise.
Our long distance moving service includes a dedicated move coordinator, professional packing (optional), careful loading, transportation in your own dedicated truck, delivery to your new location, and full unpacking services if desired.
Not every member of our team is a career firefighter, but all employees are held to fire service standards of attention to detail, professionalism, and dedication to service. Many of our crew members are volunteer firefighters or EMTs, and every hire is expected to bring that same level of care and commitment to every move.
Our home base is the Seattle metro area and the broader Pacific Northwest. For local moves, we serve Seattle and surrounding communities including Bellevue, Kirkland, Renton, Redmond, Sammamish, Mercer Island, Maple Valley, Auburn, Kent, Snoqualmie, and North Bend. For long-distance moves, we service customers nationwide.
Tips are never required, but they are always appreciated by our crews. If your movers went above and beyond, a gratuity is a great way to recognize their hard work. Cash tips handed directly to the crew at the end of the move are the most straightforward option.
Yes. First Due offers a donation and disposal service for a small fee based on the total cubic footage of items. This is a convenient way to clear out unwanted furniture, appliances, or household goods during your move without making a separate trip. Please note that we cannot dispose of garbage or hazardous items.
It depends on the distance of your move. Local moves (55 miles or less) are billed at an hourly rate — you pay only for the time the crew is working, with no hidden fees. Long-distance moves (more than 55 miles) are priced as a flat-rate binding estimate based on your inventory and the distance traveled, so the price you're quoted is the price you pay.
For the safety of our crew and your belongings, we do not transport firearms, ammunition, propane tanks, gasoline, paint, or any other hazardous or combustible materials. If you're unsure whether a specific item qualifies, please ask your moving coordinator before move day so we can help you make alternative arrangements.
Vehicle transport is not a service we currently offer. If you need to move a car as part of a long-distance relocation, we recommend contacting a dedicated auto transport company. Our team is happy to provide a referral if needed — just ask your moving coordinator.
Residential
13 questions
We do our best to accommodate urgent requests depending on crew availability. While advance booking is recommended, give us a call and we'll work to fit you into our schedule as quickly as possible.
Pricing is based on the size of your move, distance, and any additional services such as packing or specialty item handling. We provide transparent, upfront estimates with no hidden fees so you know exactly what to expect.
Clear walkways, disassemble small furniture if possible, label boxes by room, and set aside any items you plan to move yourself. Our crew will handle the rest, but preparation helps us work more efficiently and keeps costs down.
We handle all types of residential relocations including apartments, single-family homes, townhomes, and condos. Whether you're moving across the street or across the state, our crew is equipped and trained for every scenario.
It depends on the size of the dresser and whether stairs are involved. A small dresser on a single-floor, no-stair move can generally stay loaded with clothes. However, if the dresser is large or if the move involves stairs, we ask that you remove all items from the drawers beforehand. This protects both the dresser and our crew from unnecessary strain and risk of damage.
Yes. All of our crews arrive equipped with the tools needed to disassemble and reassemble most furniture, including beds, dining tables, exercise equipment, and similar items. If a piece requires disassembly to safely navigate doorways or stairwells, we'll handle it. Just let your moving coordinator know in advance about any particularly complex pieces so we can plan accordingly.
All furniture is wrapped in moving blankets and secured with stretch wrap before being loaded onto the truck. Mattresses and box springs are encased in 4-mil commercial-grade plastic mattress bags to keep them clean and protected throughout the move. These materials are part of our standard process — not an add-on — so your belongings are protected from the moment we start loading.
We use FloorPro, our proprietary neoprene floor protection product, along with floor runners to safeguard hardwood, tile, and other flooring surfaces throughout the move. High-traffic pathways are protected from the first step through the last item loaded. Our goal is to leave your home or office in the same condition we found it.
We can move most standard household appliances. However, we are not able to disconnect or reconnect water lines or gas lines. Refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, and similar appliances that require water or gas connections should be disconnected by the homeowner or a licensed plumber/technician before move day. We'll handle the heavy lifting and transport once everything is ready to go.
Yes. Our crews are experienced in carefully packing and transporting electronics, stereo systems, and similar equipment. We can assist with disconnecting cables and wiring at your origin location. However, setup and reconnection of electronics at your destination is not included — your devices will be placed in the appropriate room, ready for you or your technician to set up.
Absolutely. Unloading and placement at your destination is a core part of every move. Our crew will bring each item into your new home and place it in the room of your choosing. Please note that we do not unpack boxes — we'll get everything inside and positioned where you want it, but unpacking the contents of boxes is up to you.
We can safely remove your TV and its wall mount at your current home and transport them to your new location. However, we are not able to re-mount the TV at your destination. You'll want to arrange for a handyman or installer to handle the wall mounting at the new place. We'll make sure the TV and mount are delivered safely and ready for installation.
You're welcome to assist with lighter tasks on move day, but there are a couple of important safety guidelines. Our crew cannot team-lift with owners or non-employees — all heavy lifting is handled by trained movers only. Additionally, non-employees are not permitted inside the moving truck. The best way to help is to make sure pathways are clear, items are ready to go, and you're available to answer questions about placement at your new home.
Packing
3 questions
Fragile items receive individualized attention from our packing team. We use bubble wrap, foam padding, and acid-free tissue paper to cushion and protect delicate pieces, and each box is labeled clearly so the crew knows to handle it with care. Proper secure labeling ensures nothing fragile is stacked incorrectly or mishandled during transit.
Yes. Every box packed by our team is labeled in detail — including the room it belongs to and a general description of its contents — and inventoried so nothing gets lost in the shuffle. Clear labeling means your crew can place boxes in the right rooms at delivery, and you'll know exactly what's in each box when it's time to unpack.
We recommend booking packing services 2–3 weeks before your move date. Packing crews fill up faster than moving crews, especially during peak season, so earlier is always better. If you're also booking a full move with us, lock in your packing date at the same time to make sure everything lines up seamlessly.
Labor Only
1 question
Our Labor Only service is a premium professional solution for situations that need skilled movers but don't require a full-service move. Common uses include: - **Assisted living transitions** — helping stage or de-stage a room for a family member moving into or out of a care facility - **POD and container loading** — expertly loading your portable storage unit or moving container - **Furniture rearranging** — reconfiguring rooms in your current home - **Storage unit help** — organizing or loading items in a storage unit - **Delivery placement** — receiving and placing large furniture or appliance deliveries - **Rental truck loading** — loading or unloading a truck you've rented yourself Every Labor Only crew is trained to the same professional standards as our full-service moving teams.
Long Distance
5 questions
Yes. First Due Movers handles interstate moves nationwide. All long-distance operations are carried out entirely in-house — we do not subcontract drivers or labor for any interstate move. Your belongings travel on a dedicated truck with the same crew from pickup to delivery, so there are no handoffs and no strangers handling your items along the way.
Yes. The same crew that loads your belongings at origin will be with you at your destination to unload. There are no handoffs to a different team at any point during your move. This continuity means your crew already knows where everything goes, how your items were packed, and what needs special attention — leading to a smoother, faster unload.
We use a **55-mile threshold** based on transport distance: - **55 miles or less** = local move, billed at an hourly rate - **More than 55 miles** = long-distance move, priced with a binding estimate based on your inventory and distance If you're unsure which applies to your move, just give us a call or request a quote online and we'll figure it out together.
First Due moves nationwide — we serve all 48 contiguous states. Whether you're relocating across Washington state or across the country, our team handles the entire move in-house. We do not subcontract drivers or labor for long-distance moves, so you get the same First Due quality from start to finish.

Our crews handle computers, monitors, servers, and other office technology carefully to prevent damage in transit. Packing Supplies
5 questions
Fireboxes™ are our reusable plastic moving boxes. They are stronger than cardboard, don't need to be assembled, and are eco-friendly since they are reused to reduce waste. We deliver them to your home and pick them up at your convenience after your move is complete.
Yes! We deliver packing and moving supplies throughout King County. Contact us to arrange a delivery of boxes, tape, bubble wrap, packing paper, and any other supplies you need straight to your door.
It depends on your situation. Fireboxes™ reusable plastic boxes are ideal for most moves — they are sturdier, stackable, and we handle delivery and pickup. Cardboard boxes are a better fit if you need to keep items packed for a long time or if you are moving belongings into storage.
Reusable wardrobe boxes are plastic boxes with a built-in hanging rod for wrinkle-free transport of your hanging clothes. We can supply them on the day of your move and load them for you, or you can load them yourself. No more cramming clothes into the back seat!
Give us a call and we will help you estimate the right quantities based on the size of your home and the types of items you are moving. We would rather you have a few extra boxes than not enough, and we can always pick up any unused Fireboxes™ when your move is done.
Storage
4 questions
Our storage facilities are fully insured as a business, so the facility itself is protected. However, we do not offer valuation coverage for individual stored items. If you want coverage for your personal belongings while in storage, we recommend obtaining a separate renters or storage insurance policy.
First Due Logistics offers three types of storage services: - **Short-term storage** — ideal for bridging the gap between move-out and move-in dates - **Long-term storage** — flexible ongoing storage for items you don't need immediate access to - **Open Box Inspection & Will Call** — schedule access to your stored items for inspection, or arrange a Will Call pickup when you're ready to retrieve them Our facilities are located in Preston, WA and Kent, WA (Snoqualmie Valley).
Yes. First Due Movers and First Due Logistics work together to provide a seamless integrated service. We can move your belongings out of your current home, place them in one of our storage facilities, and then deliver everything to your new location when you're ready — all coordinated through a single team.
**Will Call** allows you to schedule a time to access specific items stored with us. Whether you need to retrieve one box or a few pieces of furniture, we coordinate a pickup appointment so your items are ready when you arrive. **Open Box Inspection** lets you schedule a visit to inspect the contents of your stored goods — useful when you need to verify condition, locate specific items, or prepare for an upcoming delivery. Both services are available by appointment through our team.
On Demand
6 questions
First Due's On Demand service is a professional delivery and moving solution designed for small jobs — typically five items or fewer. It includes three service types: - **Store-to-Home** — delivery of items from our storage facility to your home - **Home-to-Home** — transport of select items between two locations - **Labor Only** — professional crew to load, unload, or assist with specific tasks On Demand is a delivery-focused service, not a full-household move. It's ideal when you need to move a couch, relocate a few pieces of furniture, or receive a delivery that needs professional placement.
On Demand bookings are made through our dedicated portal at [firstdueondemand.com](https://firstdueondemand.com). The portal provides instant pricing and lets you select your service type, schedule a date, and confirm your booking in just a few minutes. If you have more than 5 items or need to discuss a more complex job, please call our office directly and we'll be happy to help.
We do not offer same-day On Demand service. We recommend booking in advance through [firstdueondemand.com](https://firstdueondemand.com) to secure your preferred date and time. Our team will work with you to find the earliest available slot that fits your schedule.
The On Demand portal at [firstdueondemand.com](https://firstdueondemand.com) supports bookings of up to **5 items** per service. This limit applies to all On Demand service types: Store-to-Home, Home-to-Home, and Labor Only. If you have more than 5 items, please call our office directly. We'll work with you to find the right solution, whether that's a larger On Demand booking or a full-service move.
On Demand pricing starts at **$250** and is calculated instantly through our booking portal at [firstdueondemand.com](https://firstdueondemand.com). Your price is based on the service type, number of items, and your location. There are no hidden fees — you'll see your total before confirming your booking.
On Demand is designed for **small jobs of 5 items or fewer** — think a single piece of furniture, a few boxes, or a delivery that needs professional handling. It's a delivery-focused service rather than a full household relocation. A standard move handles your entire home or office: furniture, boxes, appliances, and everything in between. If you're moving a full household, a standard local or long-distance move is the right choice. If you just need a few items moved or delivered, On Demand gets the job done quickly and affordably.
