Terms & Conditions

Last updated: July 30, 2026

Welcome to First Due Movers! These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our (“Company”) website. If you engage us to perform services, those services are governed by your written estimate, bill of lading, service agreement, tariff (where applicable), and other transaction-specific documents. If there is any conflict between these Terms and your transaction-specific documents, those transaction documents control. By accessing or using our website or engaging our services, you agree to comply with these Terms. If you do not agree, please refrain from using our website or services. Our data practices are described separately in our Privacy Policy.

1. General Information

1.1 First Due Movers provides professional residential, commercial, and specialty moving services throughout Washington and beyond.

1.2 These Terms apply to all users of our website and services, including clients, visitors, and other parties.

2. Services

2.1 Our services include but are not limited to moving services. Specific terms applicable to moving services, including pricing, valuation coverage, cancellation rights, claims procedures, and liability are set forth in the written service documents issued for your move.

2.2 We reserve the right to refuse service to any client for legitimate reasons, including safety concerns, lack of resources, or non-compliance with these Terms.

3. Estimates, Pricing & Payments

3.1 Estimates– Any quote provided, whether online, by phone, or in person, is an estimate only. Final costs may vary depending on the actual services provided, time taken, and any additional items or circumstances encountered during the move. Estimates are valid for 30 days unless otherwise noted on the bid.

3.2 Hourly or Flat Rates– Depending on the service type, rates may be billed hourly or as a flat rate. Additional charges may apply for:

  • Additional labor, packing materials, or delays beyond our control
  • Extended travel distance or overnight storage
  • Heavy or specialty items
  • Long carry or stair fees

3.3 Payments– Payment is due as outlined in your invoice or service agreement. We accept major credit cards, checks, financing, and bank transfers. Unpaid balances may incur late fees or collection actions.

4. Cancellations & Rescheduling

  • We strive to be flexible and accommodate changes whenever possible.
  • No-shows or last-minute cancellations may result in forfeiture of deposits or minimum charges.
  • Cancellations made within 48 hours may incur a cancellation fee.
  • To cancel or reschedule, please contact us at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled move.

5. Customer Responsibilities

To ensure a smooth and efficient move, you agree to:

  • Secure valuables, cash, and personal documents separately.
  • Ensure elevators, parking, and property access are available.
  • Be present (or have an authorized representative) during pickup and delivery.
  • Provide accurate details regarding your inventory, access points, and special requirements.
  • Notify us promptly of any changes or issues during the service period.

We are not responsible for items not packed, labeled, or prepared according to our guidelines unless our team performs the packing.

6. Damages & Claims

We take utmost care in handling your belongings. However, in the rare event of loss or damage:

  • We are not responsible for damages due to pre-existing conditions, unmarked fragile items, or items packed by the customer.
  • Liability is limited as per Washington State regulations and the selected valuation protection option (basic protection, replacement coverage with a $300 deductible, or full replacement coverage with no deductible).
  • All claims must be submitted in accordance with the applicable bill of lading, tariff, service agreement, and governing law. Nothing in these Terms is intended to shorten or modify any claim period required by applicable law.
  • Report all visible damages immediately to the crew leader at the time of delivery.

7. Insurance & Valuation Coverage

Like all licensed moving companies in Washington State, First Due Movers offers three levels of valuation protection, which determine our level of responsibility if an item is lost or damaged during your move:

  • Basic protection— automatically included with every move at no additional charge. Reimbursement is based on the item's weight rather than its actual value, approximately $0.60 to $0.72 per pound for most items.
  • Replacement coverage with a $300 deductible — our standard option unless another option is selected. Claims are settled based on the declared value of your shipment, with the customer responsible for the first $300 of the claim.
  • Full replacement coverage with no deductible — our highest level of protection. Claims are handled based on the declared value of your shipment with no deductible.

Please discuss your valuation protection options with our team prior to your move date.

8. Warranties & Limitation of Liability

8.1 Manufacturer warranties on any equipment or products vary and are detailed separately where applicable.

8.2 To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim any liability for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages.

8.3 We are not liable for losses arising from inaccurate information provided by the customer, or for delays caused by traffic, weather, or other circumstances beyond our control.

8.4 Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim.

9. Property Access & Conditions

You authorize First Due Movers and its employees to enter your premises or property for the purpose of performing moving services. We are not responsible for damages to walls, floors, or surrounding property resulting from narrow spaces or structural limitations unless due to proven negligence.

10. Termination of Services

We reserve the right to refuse or terminate services if:

  • Our staff faces threats, abuse, or unsafe behavior.
  • Illegal, hazardous, or prohibited items are involved.
  • Unsafe or unsanitary conditions are present.

In such cases, applicable charges will still apply for time and labor rendered.
