Residential Moving

Residential Moving Built Around You

Residential moves are the heart of what we do at First Due Movers. Over the years, we have successfully relocated thousands of satisfied customers both locally and across the country. Every household is different — from a studio apartment in Capitol Hill to a four-bedroom family home in Bellevue — and our services are designed to adapt to your specific situation, whether you are downsizing, upgrading, or relocating for a fresh start.

Our crews are trained to handle the logistics that come with every type of home: navigating tight stairwells in older buildings, working with buildings where elevator reservations are required, protecting hardwood floors and freshly painted walls, and managing the careful transport of items that hold real value to your family.

We serve individuals, couples, and families across the greater Seattle area — including Bellevue, Kirkland, Renton, Redmond, and Sammamish. Whether it is a local move within the city or a long-distance relocation to a new state, you get the same attention to detail, transparent pricing, and firefighter-founded commitment to doing the job right.

What's Included in Every Residential Move

Every residential move comes with the essentials to keep your belongings safe and your experience stress-free.

  • Loading & Unloading

Our trained crew handles every box and piece of furniture from door to door, using proper lifting techniques to prevent damage.

Our signature 360-degree wrapping process applies moving blankets, stretch wrap, and padding to every item — ensuring everything arrives in the same condition it left your home.

  • Disassembly & Reassembly

Beds, desks, shelving units, and more — we take them apart carefully and put them back together at your new place.

  • Safe Transportation

Your belongings travel in clean, well-maintained trucks with tie-downs and secure loading to prevent shifting in transit.

  • Placement in Your New Home

We place furniture and boxes in the rooms you designate so you can start settling in right away.

  • Floor & Home Protection

Moving blankets, stretch wrap, and runners keep your floors and walls in pristine condition throughout the move.

First Due Movers logo

Yes. First Due offers a donation and disposal service for a small fee based on the total cubic footage of items. Can Our Dressers Be Moved With Clothes In Them?

Can Our Dressers Be Moved With Clothes In Them?

First Due Movers logo

It depends on the size of the dresser and whether stairs are involved. A small dresser on a single-floor, no-stair move can generally stay loaded with clothes. However, if the dresser is large or if the move involves stairs, we ask that you remove all items from the drawers beforehand. This protects both the dresser and our crew from unnecessary strain and risk of damage.

Yes. All of our crews arrive equipped with the tools needed to disassemble and reassemble most furniture, including beds, dining tables, exercise equipment, and similar items. If a piece requires disassembly to safely navigate doorways or stairwells, we'll handle it. Just let your moving coordinator know in advance about any particularly complex pieces so we can plan accordingly.

All furniture is wrapped in moving blankets and secured with stretch wrap before being loaded onto the truck. Mattresses and box springs are encased in 4-mil commercial-grade plastic mattress bags to keep them clean and protected throughout the move. These materials are part of our standard process — not an add-on — so your belongings are protected from the moment we start loading.

We can move most standard household appliances. However, we are not able to disconnect or reconnect water lines or gas lines. Refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, and similar appliances that require water or gas connections should be disconnected by the homeowner or a licensed plumber/technician before move day. We'll handle the heavy lifting and transport once everything is ready to go.

Can We Help The Moving Crew On Move Day?

Can We Help The Moving Crew On Move Day?

First Due Movers logo

You're welcome to assist with lighter tasks on move day, but there are a couple of important safety guidelines. Our crew cannot team-lift with owners or non-employees — all heavy lifting is handled by trained movers only. Additionally, non-employees are not permitted inside the moving truck. The best way to help is to make sure pathways are clear, items are ready to go, and you're available to answer questions about placement at your new home.
